Today is that rare gift... an absolutely perfect day. I woke to the good news of slim but encouraging leads in Virginia and Montana, on top of the gains we all saw last night in House and Governor races. Then, as I was still struggling to adjust to this strange new feeling of being happy about election results, the universe gave me a gigantic dollop of whipped cream to top off the ice cream sundae of life: Rumsfeld quit.
Could life be any better? Well, not to sound ungrateful, but yes it could.
I'm a firm believer in answering the door when opportunity knocks, because it might be a long time before I hear that knock again. With that in mind I'm taking advantage of my current status as destiny's darling to make a few requests that have been on my mind for some time.
1. A mild winter would be nice.
2. I wouldn't complain if Sandra Bullock stopped making movies.
3. Democrats showing the world what honest, progressive leadership is would rock.
4. I could use an updated wardrobe.
5. Two words: new boyfriend.
6. It would be great if we could keep this momemtum going through the 2008 election and beyond.
7. I'm rooting for Michelle to win America's Next Top Model.
8. I'd cheer if Eliot Spitzer can clean up the mess in Albany.
9. It would be cool to find a $20 in my pants pocket.
Ok universe. Get to work.
